Trebor Colourism

Trebor Colourism

Trebor transforms colour and light into a powerful visual language. Bold, vibrant palettes, innovative light diffusion, and a masterful balance of form and space create extraordinary depth and emotion. Paired with the simplicity of his subjects, his distinctive technique produces original artworks that are immediately recognizable and next to impossible to duplicate by others.

"Most artists paint with colour. I paint by mixing colour and with light."

Who is Trebor

Who is Trebor

Trebor, the artistic name of Canadian painter Georges Robert, is a play on the spelling of his surname. Born in Ottawa and now based in Gatineau, Quebec, he has developed a distinctive visual style that is uniquely his own.

His first public debut came in August 2017 at a group exhibition, where all his paintings sold within a few hours. This overwhelming response to his art style encouraged him to commit himself to a professional artistic career. Since this time, he has continued to refine his unique and innovative techniques, creating original works that have earned the admiration of collectors and art enthusiasts alike.

"Colour is my language. Light is my signature."

Trebor's Colourism Style

Trebor draws inspiration from the great art movements of the past, blending their enduring qualities with his own innovative techniques to create distinctive contemporary works. Through continuous experimentation in his studio, he has unintentionally developed a unique artistic movement, name by his peers, as Trebor’s “Colourism” which is now recognized locally for his use of bold colours, light, and visual harmony.

In less than a decade, Trebor has produced more than 400 works of art in the Trebor Colourism Style, along with over 85 abstract and rupestral works. More than 90% of his original colourist artworks have been acquired by private collectors, art enthusiasts, and corporate clients.

In June 2019, Trebor opened his first solo gallery in Gatineau, Quebec, to showcase his distinctive artistic vision. Although the gallery closed the following year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he reopened in September 2022 on Ottawa's historic Sussex Drive, one of Canada's premier cultural corridors, just steps from the National Gallery of Canada. Following a temporary medical condition, now fully resolved, Trebor closed the gallery in October 2024 to dedicate himself entirely to painting, artistic research, and the continued evolution of Trebor Colourism.

Today, Trebor works exclusively from his studio, where he continues to expand the boundaries of unique art form. His original paintings are available through this website and a few carefully selected galleries, offering collectors a direct access to his latest creations.

“Colour creates the emotion. Light multiplies the experience.”
