The Red River or Rivière rouge that criss-crosses in torrents between steep mountain passes throughout the Laurentians region of Quebec and then meanders graciously before ending its journey in the Ottawa river. The river is lush and green all summer long and white and frozen during the winter months. In many places its a trickling river of reddish waters and in other areas it rages through canyon that are the joy of rafters and canoeists. This painting captures an autumn scene next to one of the many favourite rock escarpments where free climbing enthusiasts test their strength, agility and courage.
As a colorist painter this artwork is very representative of my artistic portfolio. Most of the subject matters in my urban and country landscapes are located in various provincial and national parks throughout Canada, certain areas in the Ottawa/Gatineau Region and from photographs taken during trips in other countries.
